this post is particularly for Jess who wanted to see pictures of Clifford Guenther's wedding today.
None of us got any good pictures since a few minutes into the wedding it was announced that no pics should be taken in the ceremony. There were no really good photo op's at the reception and Damaris was busy socializing, so she wasn't very aggressively pursuing photos.
Anyway, here's a couple pictures to give you a little idea, Jess..

All in all it was a pleasant time of meeting some old friends and seeing cousin Clifford marry a sweet young girl.

gardening

One of the activities that I take pleasure in is gardening.
I love seeing orderly rows of weed free vegetables stretching across the garden plot. Before long we should be digging a few potatoes and enjoying the first cucumbers and squash. There are green tomatoes already forming on the plants and I tied them up to their stakes today.
BUT.....the gardening that I enjoy the most doesn't produce edibles. I really enjoy flowers!
-borders of annuals-
-a rose bush gift from kat from a birthday past-
-pansies that were planted last fall and are filling out now-
-multiflora roses in front of a split rail fence-
-and pale pink climbing roses by the pergola-

fishing

This spring the boys have spent lots and lots of time at the pond. They fish and sail their little raft. They swim. After dark they take flashlights and gig frogs. I think that most of all they just love the time they spend together and with cousins.

names

So the kittens from Indiana who have been anonymously known as "kitty and kitty" so far, are now named. They are called Simpson and Clara.

a tale of two kitties

So this tale begins in Indiana where Jessica's very pregnant, and very wild, farm cat gave birth to 4 kittens....
Kathryn, Damaris, and Jake's oldest boys took a weekend trip to visit Jessica, and she called her mama with a question. "Can I send a kitten back for Dennis?" she asked. After Martin and Rose deliberated, they gave permission. Aunt Joy overheard the plans and suggested that they could also bring one for Hadassah at the same time.
So now the kittens are doing well and have adopted Theodore Roosevelt (aka Teddy) as their mama and are living happily.
They do have the normal little infected eyes that kittens seem prone to. Dennis washes their eyes with a saline solution that he mixes up and sometimes puts antibiotic drops in too.

Until now the kitties have been drinking only raw milk, but today we picked up a bag of kitty feed at Wal-Mart. They dove right in and ate a good amount.
